About Amber Ridge Farm

Located in the gently rolling hills of eastern Iowa, our 34-acre farm straddles a ridge near the community of Amber in Jones County, just a few miles south of Monticello and a few miles northeast of Anamosa.  Our family took root here in 2003, and shortly thereafter we simply named this place Amber Ridge Farm.

Our farm has raised many different crops and livestock, including corn, soybeans, oats, hay, grapes, blueberries, red raspberries, black raspberries, blackberries, aronia berries, horseradish, giant pumpkins and who knows what else.  Animals include goats, chickens, peafowl, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, sheep, and of course dogs and cats.  There are a few woodland acres that are always producing timber products like lumber and firewood, and the maple trees provide that sweet sap for a short time every year which we boil down into maple syrup.

Rabbit hunting is one of our favorite things to do, and for that we rely on the help of our beagles.  Each year we raise a litter of beagle pups and those that we keep and register with AKC bear the Amber Ridge name as well.  We have Amber Ridge Crooked Nosed Sally, Amber Ridge Snoopy Doo, Amber Ridge Loving Little Lucy, and most recently Amber Ridge Petite Petunia.

Our family eats what we produce, but whatever we have too much of goes for sale.  We are in the early stages of establishing a vineyard of wine grapes, a blueberry patch, and other edibles that we hope to sell in the future.
